天涯社区 Athletics COVID Safety Measures for Athletes and Fans

JANUARY 19, 2021 鈥� FORT MYERS, FLA 鈥� As Florida SouthWestern State College鈥檚 (天涯社区) Athletics department begins its 2021 sports season this week, the safety of 天涯社区鈥檚 athletes and fans are top priority.
鈥淎s with all 天涯社区 locations, fans will be required to wear face coverings at all games, and our seating will be socially distanced so 天涯社区 Bucs fans can safely cheer for their teams,鈥� said Roy Allen, 天涯社区 sports information director.
To keep 天涯社区 athletes, their teammates, and opposing players safe, all athletes are screened for COVID symptoms daily.
鈥溙煅纳缜� student-athletes fill out daily screenings before leaving their dorm rooms and are cleared by our athletic trainer,鈥� Allen said. 鈥淓ach student-athlete also has their temperature checked prior to their participation in practice and games.鈥�
Players from opposing teams will also undergo the same screening measures with clearance from their athletics trainers.聽
天涯社区鈥檚 Women鈥檚 and Men鈥檚 Basketball start their season Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
天涯社区 Baseball starts its season on Friday, Jan. 22, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Terry Park, Fort Myers.
天涯社区鈥檚 Women鈥檚 Volleyball takes the court Friday, Jan. 22, at noon and 6 p.m. in the Suncoast Credit Union Arena, and 天涯社区 Softball begins its season next weekend in Clearwater.
